about

The Mariana Hollow London, UK

We're a five-piece female-fronted alternative metal band from London, UK.

We write dark music with twin guitar lines, pounding rhythms and haunting melodies - songs that'll sink their claws in deeper with every listen.

There's a free EP here on BandCamp, and two other albums on all the major digital stores if you like what you're hearing.

It's good stuff, honest!

Track Name: The Unburned
Soldiers cling to the helm, out at sea
Swords are ripped from young hands, good and clean
With the kingdom ablaze in light of green
The usurpers would raid every keep

There could never be one
But so many claims leave the gods turning
She became the unburned
Knowing her intent with enlightened power

Red lit the sky
Drawing them close to the horizon…

Soldiers cling to the helm, out at sea
Swords are ripped from young hands, good and clean
With the kingdom ablaze in light of green
The usurpers would raid every keep

She was biding her time
Knowing that her strength lay beyond mere numbers
She would nurture her young
Ready to avenge with the gift of fire

Red lit the sky
Drawing them close to the horizon…

Soldiers cling to the helm, out at sea
Swords are ripped from young hands, good and clean
With the kingdom ablaze in light of green
The usurpers would raid every keep

One claimed her heart and held her gaze
Until his blood ran black and cold
One plagued her nights and stalked her days
Until his head was dressed with gold
Seeking comfort in her name
As they walk through darkened waves
She would lead them forth that day
To reclaim her rightful reign
Would their journey fall in vain
To pretenders of the realm

Soldiers cling to the helm, out at sea
Swords are ripped from young hands, good and clean
With the kingdom ablaze in light of green
The usurpers would raid every keep
Track Name: Don't Lose Your Head
Tell her again how to love it
Tell her again how to ride like the wind
Breathing too shallow to hear it
But there is a pulse and it’s buried within

Me, me, myself and I (lost her soul again)
Through the weak undefended eyes

Bite at the tongue and recover
Stepping up for the next round to begin
When will she learn not to suffer
When will the trial be directed at him
So uncompromised
Safe behind the walls
And secure in a corporate guise

Solace is dead
Don’t lose your head
This game revives old truths

There is no justification
There’s no reprieve for the weary and slain
There are a dozen approaching
Each one of them bearing a look of disdain in me…
Me, myself and I (lost her soul again)
Through the weak undefended eyes

Solace is dead
Don’t lose your head
This game revives old truths
Lest we forget
Don’t lose your head
‘Cause faith relies on you
Track Name: Sanzu
Dressed him, with a gentle hand
One that only a good daughter knows
All is static in the darkened room
Frail and empty, skin that’s laid to rest

Pray, with eyes wide
Can’t let it up, can’t let him know what would shatter such pride
Ache, the bones tire
Can’t give it up, can’t tell him it’s alright…

It came for his life
And words fall silent as they wait in the dark
It came for his life
But even through his pain she glimpses a spark

Fight it back and just pretend
He will hold you once again
Fight it back and just pretend
He will hold you once again

…Casts her mind back
To when a childhood spanned a thousand years
But then one day, time picks up the pace
And we wonder how we ended here

Pray, with eyes wide
Can’t let it up, can’t let him know what would shatter such pride
Ache, the bones tire
Can’t give it up, can’t tell him it’s alright…

It came for his life
And words fall silent as they wait in the dark
It came for his life
But even through his pain she glimpses a spark

And there is nothing
Then there’s suffering
Till I meet your eyes again…

It came for his life
And words fall silent as they wait in the dark
It came for his life
But even through his pain she glimpses a spark

Fight it back and just pretend
He will hold you once again
Fight it back and just pretend
He will hold you once again
Track Name: Scars, Not Wounds
Would we ever resolve it
Or, was it something undone?
I’d be lying if I said I’d never once hoped for you to run
We’d become un-entwined and now only cracks would remain
We were deep in the trench knowing
Our ascent would’ve been in vain

Read through the silence
You’ve played us to death
Your violent contrast
Has spared all amends

We’ll take it and run
We’ll take it and run
The anchors are raised
It’s over and done

While you mastered a cold shoulder
We would host a parade
We were lying through our teeth and watching flare lines begin to fade
If you had the divine power,
To relive through your worst,
Would you praise the fruits of our labours or
Take a bite just to quench your thirst?

Read through the silence
You’ve played us to death
Your violent contrast
Has spared all amends

We’ll take it and run
We’ll take it and run
The anchors are raised
It’s over and done

Was it a high place that you fell from?
We should’ve known what you were looking for…

We’ll take it and run
We’ll take it and run
The anchors are raised
It’s over and done
